As I’ve evolved as a human, so too has my artistic expression. Traversing through life, I have noticed that it is becoming increasingly more difficult to be human. For 15 years I’ve honed in on my artistic eye, to create my current aesthetic.
What is it to age? What is it to die? Where and when will I pass? How do I deal with losing loved ones? What is it that makes me feel like a lone black sheep? What is mental stability?
Being human is difficult. It is through hardships that I feel we, as humans, are able to connect. My work is a visual diary of what it means to me to be human. Through my portfolio, I hope to express life’s difficulties in an elegant way which will help to bring us together rather than driving us apart.
People often lament that they don’t know what to say in conversations or that we don’t have much in common. I hope that one day, we will be able to put aside religion, sexuality and skin color, in order to focus on the suffering that brings us together. I believe that it is through suffering which we are able to learn to better understand each other.
My experience with chromesthesia means that I am able to harness color to create delicate, light and compositionally balanced art. I often strive to find otherworldly, desolate, and surreal scenes with peculiar colors which I use to express my life’s journey. It is my hope that my work will connect others while creating a safe space for me to process life’s atrocities.
